Job Summary:

The HR Generalist provides operational and administrative support across multiple human resources functions, including payroll assistance, benefits assistance, orientation, and HR projects. This role serves as a key support partner to the HR team and helps ensure efficient, compliant, and employee-focused HR operations.
The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, organized, customer-service driven, and capable of managing multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.

Responsibilities:

  • Assists with payroll preparation and processing activities to ensure timely and accurate payroll administration.
  • Reviews payroll data for accuracy, including employee changes, deductions, and timekeeping information, in support of the Payroll & HRIS Analyst.
  • Participates in assigned payroll audits, reporting, and reconciliation processes.
  • Responds to employee payroll-related questions and escalate issues as appropriate.
  • Assists in maintaining accurate benefit records and invoice reconciliations.
  • Supports compliance activities related to benefits, wellness, and payroll.
  • Partners with the Payroll & HRIS Analyst to maintain employee records and data integrity within the Human Resources Information System (HRIS) and Employee Document Management System.
  • Coordinates leave administration, employee communications, and policy acknowledgments as needed, in collaboration with the Lead Benefits & Wellness Strategist.
  • Processes employee status changes, promotions, transfers, and separations within HR systems.
  • Collaborates with the Onboarding Specialist to facilitate new employee orientation sessions.
  • Performs other duties, projects, HR initiatives, and process improvement exercises, as assigned.

Minimum Requirements:

  • Required Education:
    • Some education in Human Resources, Business Administration, or related field preferred, but not required.
  • Minimum Years of Experience:
    • 3-5 years of Human Resources experience required.
    • Previous experience within a legal or professional services environment preferred.
  • Other Requirements (Knowledge, Skill, Ability, and Licensure(s)):
    • Experience supporting payroll, benefits, onboarding, or HRIS functions preferred.
    • Paycom experience preferred but not required.
    • Knowledge of federal, state, and local employment laws and HR best practices preferred.
    • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite and HRIS/payroll systems.
    • Specific proficiency with Microsoft Excel is required. Including but not limited to, VLOOKUP's, pivot tables, data review, formatting, and reporting.
    • Demonstrated experience or interest in generative AI and/or automation in HR processes
    • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
    • Excellent interpersonal, communication, and customer service skills.
    • Ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive information appropriately.
    • Ability to manage multiple tasks and priorities effectively.

Physical Requirements and Work Environment:

  • Physical Demands:
    • Potential prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
    • Some lifting, up to 30lbs.

  • Work Environment:
    • This role will initially be in-office for the first 60-90 days, then hybrid (3 days in office, 2 days remote).
